The builder had framed for a specific size range and wanted a U-factor under 0.30 without stepping to aluminum-clad pricing. We surveyed the sixteen openings, found two rough openings that had been framed 5/8 inch narrow at the header, and specified ECO Window Systems vinyl with a 0.28 U-factor and 0.23 SHGC. The integrated nailing fin let us weatherize before the window went in, which matters in Belle Glade when afternoon thunderstorms show up unannounced. We specified Therma-Tru Fiber-Classic in a mahogany grain with a composite frame system that doesn’t wick moisture and an adjustable sill we could set to positive drainage toward the exterior. The multi-point lock engages at three heights, which corrects the latch-side gap that had been shimmed with foam tape. The measured survey included a frame plumb reading of 1/8 inch in 80 inches, well within Therma-Tru’s tolerance but noted on the document the homeowner keeps. Written price: $3,100 with installation and disposal. Photo record shows the sill drainage test with a cup of water, the lock engagement at all three points, and the final reveal adjustment.
